In a significant stride towards sustainable urban transportation, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched Uttar Pradesh’s first double-decker electric bus in Lucknow. The inauguration ceremony, held in the state capital, marked a new chapter in eco-friendly public transport and highlighted the government’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions while modernizing public infrastructure.
The double-decker electric bus is designed to provide an eco-conscious alternative to traditional fuel-based vehicles, offering a cleaner, quieter, and more efficient mode of travel for commuters. Equipped with modern amenities and designed for comfort, the bus can accommodate a substantial number of passengers, making it an ideal addition to the busy streets of Lucknow.
During the launch event, CM Yogi Adityanath praised the initiative, stating, “This is a step forward in our mission to promote sustainable and advanced public transport systems in Uttar Pradesh. The introduction of electric buses aligns with our goal to reduce pollution and foster a greener future for our cities.”
The new fleet is expected to make public transport more appealing and reliable, encouraging more people to opt for eco-friendly commuting options. The initiative also serves as a model for other cities in India looking to adopt cleaner transportation solutions.
This launch follows a series of measures taken by the Uttar Pradesh government to enhance green mobility, including the expansion of electric vehicle infrastructure and subsidies for EV adoption.
