Nitish Kumar tries to touch PM’s feet at Bihar event. Modi does this next

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar took everyone by surprise at an event in Darbhanga when he tried to touch Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s feet. In a video that has gone viral on social media, Nitish Kumar, 73, is seen walking towards PM Modi, 74, with folded hands and bowing to touch his feet in a third such instance this year.

However, PM Modi quickly stops the JD(U) leader from touching his feet and is seen shaking his hands. Another video that has gone viral from the same event shows Modi pulling Nitish Kumar to his side as party workers garland the Prime Minister.

However, this is not the first time that Nitish Kumar has done so. In June, Nitish Kumar surprised all those present in Parliament’s Central Hall when he tried to touch Modi’s feet. He had also briefly touched the feet of PM Modi at a Lok Sabha election rally in Nawada in April this year

Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) emerged as the second-largest ally of the BJP in the Lok Sabha polls and helped it form the government for a third consecutive time this year. The BJP failed to get a majority on its own and depended on the JD(U) and Chandrababu Naidu’s TDP to cross the majority mark.

‘NITISH KUMAR PULLED OUT BIHAR FROM JUNGLE RAAJ’

The incident happened at an event in Darbhanga where PM Modi laid the foundation for AIIMS and inaugurated several key infrastructure projects worth around Rs 12,100 crore.

At the event, PM Modi praised Nitish Kumar for transforming the state, and pulling it out of “jungle raaj”, a swipe at the RJD and Lalu Prasad Yadav.

“Nitish Kumar has set up a model of good governance (shushashan), pulling the state out of the era of jungle raaj. No praise is too high for this achievement,” PM Modi said.

The Prime Minister also highlighted improvements in Bihar’s health infrastructure under the NDA rule.

“Bihar is witnessing a lot of development. The previous government in Bihar never bothered about health infrastructure. They made false promises, but the situation has improved since Nitish Kumar came to power,” Modi said
